Making Our Streets Safer for Bikes and Trucks to Share

This week the Boston Globe ran two editorials on making our streets safer for bikes and trucks to share, following the tragic death of cyclist Meng Jin in a crash with a truck near the Museum of Science. I co-authored this op-ed with Boston Councilor Michelle Wu and Becca Wolfson executive director of the Boston Cyclists Union. The Globe followed with an editorial in support of requiring — not only encouraging — all trucks to be equipped with side guards, which are effective at reducing serious injury in crashes between trucks and vulnerable road users.
